Black Shale consists of guitarist and singer Zach Stern, Krista Kuhn on vocals, K.O on keys/synth, Adam Schragin on drums, and Mike Sears on bass. Their songs cut across a variety of genres from folk and country to funk and shoegaze, but lay firmly within the indie rock world and feature lyrics that linger on lost loves, systems of oppression, the mutability of existence, and horny sailors.
