Erin Millington

Erin Millington writes love letters to the dance floor. Eloquent, soulful and simply unforgettable, her nuanced mixes have earned her a seat as house royalty in music capital Austin, Texas. Her authenticity is a warm, reassuring constant in the rapidly changing city, and it’s as Midwest as that of pinnacle influences Derrick Carter, DJ Heather, Colette, Diz, and Roy Davis, Jr. — all of whom she’s opened for as her dreams continue to take form. But her calling didn’t come in Chicago, or even in Texas. It came in her hometown of Minneapolis, in neon purple, at First Avenue — nightclub of legendary Prince. The club fatefully drove her to Gramaphone Records, and in 1996, Romanthony’s ‘The Wanderer’ (her first purchase) became her North Star, taking her from the Midwest to the West Coast to the Lone Star State. Erin took it all in, learning to properly school heads and intrigue newcomers alike. And in 2005, she did just that as Blend*e, holding her first class at none other than Plush, home to the capital city’s underground. Two years later at infamous Sixth Street venue Barcelona, she opened for house guru Mark Farina with a performance that ushered in a seven-year residency at Congress Avenue club Lanai (aka Ethics) and landed her gigs at Kingdom and Loft 718 (all closed but never forgotten), as well as at resilient mainstay Cheer Up Charlie’s, who continues to keep the vibe alive in the Red River District of downtown. Word got around, and cities like El Paso, San Francisco, and Las Vegas came a-callin’ too. While making her mark in and out of the city, Erin also contributed to Austin house collective 4JACKS with Mark Denim, Dustin Kinney (aka DJ Kadabra), and the late great J.A.M.O.N., and she continues to do so with Midwest Sessions (alongside Knos and DJ Q). But it’s Ms. Millington’s house-kissed letters of love that continue to take her to current Austin hot spots Ah Sing Den (for Secret Garden), Coconut Club + Neon Grotto, and the city’s biggest venue Concourse Project, where she opened for UK darling Sam Divine and the iconic Honey Dijon. The always-evolving Erin continues to artfully blend past with future to create presence for the floor, and 2022 marks her return to Concourse for electronic festival Seismic, along with a fresh string of DJ cameos lined up at chic listening room Dante’s Hi-Fi as part of Soho House Austin + Miami with local resident (and longtime influence) JT Donaldson. Erin Millington may have started out as a wanderer, but she’s built her own house now: “My life is music and music is life, sweet sounds to help you take flight” (as Ali Love + Felix da Housecat would put it).
