Lydia Night

In the early days of 2024, singer/songwriter Lydia Night spent a month holed up in a friend’s home studio and created over a dozen songs in secret—an unabashedly pop-centric body of work that would soon comprise her solo debut. “Everyone thought I was taking a break, but really I was writing a record and following my first instincts the whole time,” says the former frontwoman of beloved L.A. garage-punk band The Regrettes. “It felt important to shut out the noise instead of immediately seeking validation for what I was doing, like I usually had in the past.”Executive-produced by the 24-year-old artist, Parody of Pleasure echoes the unbridled nature of its creation, shedding all inhibition and showing the full depth of her vision for the very first time. And while the album sustains the independent spirit she’s embodied since co-founding The Regrettes at age 15, Night unlocks an entirely new freedom in the possibilities of pop—ultimately transforming her chosen genre into a vessel for confession, catharsis, and life-changing self-discovery.
