Tony Velasco performs with a variety of bands in Austin, Texas since moving to town in 1991 including the Shelley King Band, Stone Wheels, Carolyn Wonderland, Lost Souvenirs, Kim Deschamps, The South Austin Gospel Choir, People Skills, Morning Star and Don Gato. In addition to his primary instrument of bass guitar, Tony plays acoustic and electric guitar, piano, keyboards, charango and sings. Tony co-wrote “Tennessee Whiskey” with Shelley King whichwas covered by Toni Price on her recording “Born To Be Blue” (2003, Antone’s Records). The song was recorded with Elvis Presley’s guitarist James Burton on lead guitar, and it was voted as the #3 Song of the Year in the 2004 Austin Music Awards.
