Jake Quillin

Dallas, TX

"Baptized in the sound", as Tennessee native Jake Quillin says, is a good way to describe his approach to making music. A man with a depth of feeling and emotion well beyond his years, he infuses both a sense of melancholy and a swell of joy into every note he sings or squeezes from his guitar.Finding an icon in the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Jake Quillin exploded onto the East Tennessee music scene in 2014 with a sound that had largely been missing from the Appalachian region; electric blues. Since then he's released a psychedelic influenced EP (Psychedelic Soul 2017) and gone back to the bare basics of acoustic guitar and voice with his 2018 solo album, "Stormy Weather". A powerful combination of the raw soul singers he's attempted to emulate and his own medley of deep, spiritual blues.Memorable festival performances and packed out hometown shows boosted his profile from budding singer/songwriter to one of the most in demand artists in his region, eventually connecting him with Dallas producer, Jason Burt (Leon Bridges, Paul Cauthen). In April 2019, Quillin made the trip to Texas for what turned out to be an all night recording session with Burt at Modern Electric Sound Recorders. After a weekend in Dallas, and ample encouragement from Burt, Quillin packed his bags and moved to Texas just six months later.Quillin is now playing regularly in and around Dallas with his first release from Modern Electric expected to be out early 2020.
